Nicholas: Rather than expressing it through marking, Michael Asher shows his love by resurrecting marks gone by. In his eponymous exhibition at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Asher rebuilt every temporary wall stud used to hang work shown in its main gallery between 1998 and 2007. This giant skeleton is a 4-D road map of not just his but an entire city's past romances. Or maybe it wasn't so romantic, depending on who you ask.
