

“Untitled, 2003” was initiated in 2002 when Andrea Fraser approached Friedrich Petzel Gallery to arrange a commission with a private collector on her behalf. The requirements for the commission were to include a sexual encounter between Fraser and a collector, which would be recorded on videotape, with the first exemplar of the edition going to the participating collector.

They are posing at upscale private swimming pools and reflect on their ideas of beauty, ways to obtain it and it’s relationship with privilege. The video is punctuated by the women taking self-portraits with a polaroid camera.

Still from »Train«, 2001. Julika Rudelius invites a group of young men on the street to be in a video in which they would talk about women and love. During the filming Rudelius leads the conversation through questions (not audible in the video), but without a script.

»Role Exchange«, 1975 performance by Marina Abramovic. This dual performance was executed in two institutions, De Appel Gallery and the Red Light District in Amsterdam. For the opening night of the artist’s exhibition, the prostitute went to the gallery, the artist’s working place, while the artist, assuming the role of a prostitute, went to the Red Light District, and set in the window, the prostitute’s working place.

»Lecture with actress«, 1997. For an evening of ideas between artists and philosophers about reality and fiction, Barbara Visser was invited to talk about her works. Instead, Visser employed a tall blond actress with no previous knowledge of her work to do the lecture instaed, equipped with and invisible earpiece, repeating what Visser was prompting in her ear.

The work “Disconnected” by Susan Härtig is a tent that is coated with the fabric called “e-blocker”, which means that it is nearly perfectly shielded against electromagnetic radiation, thus electromagnetic fields.
