An actor performs a play on a specially constructed stage. A stenographer sits opposite on a similar construction and notes down everything being said and done in a script format. The actor performs the new script and his performance is noted down repeatedly.

»Ashugh«, 2008 by R.E.P.group. For the performance on 6 Gyumri biennale in Armenia R.E.P. artists invited Ashugh, an Armenian folk singer and storyteller. He appeared in various public places in the city, singing about well-known performances and actions of contemporary artists.

»Art must be beautiful«, 1975 by Marina Abramović. I brush my hair with a metal brush held in my right hand and simultaneously comb my hair with a metal comb held in my left hand. While so doing, I continuously repeat ‘Art must be beautiful’, ‘Artist must be beautiful’, until I have destroyed my hair and face.

»The Holy Artwork«, 2001 by Christian Jankowski, created in collaboration with former Pastor Peter Spencer of the Texas-based Harvest Fellowship Church. The piece was filmed and broadcast as part of Spencer’s weekly television show. The piece begins with Jankowski arising from Spencer’s congregation with a handy-video camera, approaching the pulpit, and collapsing at the pastor’s feet, while Spencer, speaking directly to the TV camera, delivers a sermon about art, preaching against a “one-dimensional view of painting” while praising contemporary art as “a bridge between religion, art, and television.”
