Welcome to the inaugural exhibition curated from the Rhizome ArtBase! "Ya Heard: Sounds from the ArtBase" features works selected by New York artists Keith and Mendi Obadike. These projects are a sampling of how online spaces are reconstructed as forums for sonic inquiry and platforms for instrumentation, or instruments themselves. Beyond hyperlinks and the visual materials of the web, sound illustrates paths for expression, interactivity, and distribution that transform image and go beyond screen. The Obadikes consider the practices of sound art and net art, the spaces they cohabit and where their traditions divide.
