All my life I walked along the spines of the lovely dikes of the Acadians and laughed that the British had been so diligent in their expulsion of this People that, with the Land of Evangeline just newly theirs, the dikes fell into disrepair and the salt crept in and the British had to slink down to the French colonies in the south to find and Acadian or two to teach the British to stand like children in a fairy tale with their fingers in the dam.
