    25And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN (PERES).

    26This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

    27TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

    28PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

    Personally I prefer the Johnny Cash song:
    And Daniel turned to the wall and read

    "My friend you're weighed in the balance and found wanting
    Your kingdom was divided, it can't stand
    You're weighed in the balance and found wanting
    Your houses were built upon the sand"

    Source(s):

    Daniel 5:25-28
    Johnny Cash, Belshazzar

    MENE MENE TEKEL UPHARSIN

    Which was interpreted by Daniel to mean,
    God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it

    You have been weighed on the scales and found to be deficient

    Your kingdom will be divided and given over to the Medes and Persians.

    According to the story, the king was assassinated that night and a Mede took control of the kingdom
