Yes
To become one gaint wiki page :D

To make communcation easy between people.
And it works. I can call anyplace in the world for dirt cheap, i can IM people anyplace in the world, and email. I can see their face with webcam, i can watch my TV from the internet on my cell phone.

Anything is anyware and everyware.

It also makes for great gaming :D

    now, like anything else, it's to make money for vendors of products and services.
