I haven’t read Bluebeard and Breakfast of Champions is a fading memory, but according to Wikipedia the stripe is supposed to be yellow. Curious why Wikipedia and (what I assume are) others you found use orange for the stripe.

Just read the wikipedia page..
I was just wondering how many people made “real”, this fictional painting. I have a feeling most got lazy and just copied eachother’s jpgs…
now there is a jpg provenance for some scholar to research…someday….

The yellow stripe versions have been “webbified”–one has blurred edges and the other a gold gradient. I wonder if the artists thought they were improving the work.
