welcome to sleaze row

“Unless you are building the sleaze row of web pages, avoid HTML tags like… blink… and… marquee… that only work on specific browsers. …”

Yeah, marquee reads differently on every browser/computer combo I have at home and work. I quit using them on my blog when someone told me my page was pushed way off to the side (on Safari). Not saying that the sleaze row of web pages isn’t a good thing, just that my preference is for quirkiness and obnoxiousness in art and life instead of web design, which should be as comfortably predictable as warm milk.

did you guys ever see the page of the damned (referring post)? i showed it to some people i was teaching web design to as an example of what not to do…and their reaction was “wow, COOL!”

Olia, I can’t find the page I original quoted it from (thinking google could help me find it later), but found these three instances:

http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/tut/tut17.html
http://fel.utc.sk/physics/computing/HTMLtutorial/tut/tut17.htm
http://www.umsl.edu/services/summer/basichtm/WritingHTML/tut17.html

maybe this document is the original? from way back in _2000_!
