you looking for cash eh?!?

haha, say what lowcast?

it’s funny that you can be tom’s friend on myspace or subscribe to joshua’s bookmarks.. its like a feeling of connection to the authority. but its not real…

or there’s the argument that these are the people who got paid for what their communities built. wish i came up with a good web 2.0 idea. how about an animated-gif-only flickr

nasty nets!

tom is a design decision, but joshua’s bookmarks are real, and caterina & stewart’s photos seem real too. they got paid for being leaders of new-ish ideas implemented well, and for the communities that they successfully gardened… i don’t know enough about max or jakob to talk about them. :)

Tom is kind of Big Brothery and wierd, sending out bulletins to the entire Myspace universe about friends’ lost pets, or when something breaks, there’s always a personal message from Tom.. yet you know that Tom is not really doing all of this.. perhaps some of it?

and Joshua’s bookmarks are actually often very good :)

joshua…the anti-tom!

facebook does it ok, with zuckerberg being the guy whose name is at the bottom of every page and “writes” a note on the news feed when something important happens, but isn’t your “friend”. and there are the heads of metafilter and something awful, who are visible participators and moderators. etc.

so the human face/figurehead/leader of a website is important. but we knew about this already, especially looking at giant corporations (jobs, page and brin, etc). people like a representative person, even if it doesn’t really make sense (see: tom anderson, political heads of state).

so does any acquire-worthy website need a personality?!?! i am still available as a figurehead, limited time only.
