There are many ways to find information on the internet however some ways may yield better search results than that of others. If you prefer to search using Google, one way to get better results is to narrow down your search using the “advanced search” option.

One popular method of finding information on the internet is to download a search toolbar for your browser. Most of the popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google, Dogpile and many others, offer these toolbars via a free download link on their site.

If you are looking for something in particular on the internet and don’t want to do a broad search using a search engine, you may opt to use a World Wide Web catalog instead. Catalogs provide a listing of sites by subject. One very popular catalog available is the Yahoo catalog.

If you can’t find the information that you are looking for with just one of your favorite search engines then why not search many of them at once? Webcrawler and Dogpile are sites that search many different search engines and give you all the results on just one page!

Newsgroups are a great way to find information on certain topics. Simply find a newsgroup on the topic you are wanting to find information on and subscribe to the group. This group will send you information on your chosen topic at given intervals.

When searching for a specific group of words, say for example: How to write a blog, placing quotation marks around the group of words will give you the exact results for “How to write a blog” instead of results containing just one of the words.

Mailing lists are another great way of getting information on a specific subject. You can join a mailing list and they will send the information directly to your inbox. Mailing lists are somewhat similar to newsgroups.

Social bookmarking is a very popular way of finding sites that have the information you need. You can visit social bookmarking sites such as ListIt, Digg or Delicious and find a group of sites on your preferred topic by searching the social bookmarking sites.

If you have a question that you would like to find the answer to but can’t seem to find it already online, you can always visit sites like AolAnswers or AskJeeves and post your question for someone to answer directly.

When looking for a phone number to a business or individual, it can sometimes be very frustrating. When a simple Google search doesn’t succeed, try this simple alternative. Visit the World Wide Web’s online White Pages or Yellow Pages. You are certain to find the information you are looking for.
