hehe, my professor emailed our class a link to tv-links.co.uk so we could conveniently refer to some movies that we’re studying, with a note saying “a student gave me this link, but i can’t seem to make it work”…because the site had been shut down in the short period between when she received the link and when she forwarded it to us!! so then she gave us a different link to a different website – we’ll see if that gets shut down too. this is fun because we’re talking about piracy and youtube etc. as part of the course; i like classes that are aware of what’s happening in the world (and by “the world” i mean “my world, aka the internet”).

end of an era. wasnt just great for downloading, it really was an excellent barometer for judging what was new and interesting. instead of foraging around magazines and blogs you could instantly get a sense of the popularity or the buzz around a particular artist. it will be missed.

Any interesting cultural development must be destroyed in the name of endless property rights.
